13. Running on the Spot, Running Around in Circles and Running Free!

All three denote movement. They all elevate our breathing and heartbeat, giving us a good physical workout. However, they each differ in their result when viewed from the physical and mental perspectives.

The last couple of weeks, I have been feeling stuck. Waiting for some inspiration that would get my mind into writing! This morning it came to me that maybe I have been running on the spot, my mind churning away for ideas. Like on a treadmill, burning up calories whilst remaining in the same space. Then it came to me. How about letting go and feeling free?

Sometimes ideas come quickly and other times thoughts have to mull around go through some mysterious formations before a picture is formed. When I was pushing for inspiration, I ended up with a heavy head. It is easier to wait for the fruit to ripen and let it fall onto the ground; this however, needs patience and confidence – currently something I seem to be sadly lacking in. However, the break-through when it comes feels so exhilarating! The energy starts to move into new potentials.

Is this occurring in our daily lives too? I remember many instances when I have felt stagnant as if treading water waiting for a break, into something new.  The pressure that builds up especially when a deadline is approaching can be quite intense. This leads to panic running around in circles and then suddenly something bursts through that is the most appropriate solution. This gives such a joyful sense of achievement. Is this why people can persevere always trying to find that golden ticket?

With this perspective, I can see now how running on the spot on my treadmill provides significant value, which allows me to enjoy and appreciate its process.
