63. Resilient Light

As yet, I have not come across a single adult who hasn’t experienced some triumphs, reasons for celebration and superlative achievements. Mixed in with this, they have also invariably faced some kind of struggle, hindrance and grief. The quotient of each may differ and may be unique, hence creating the multiplicity of their experiences. Reflecting on these life patterns, brought me to think of a stain-glass window…

Though the stained window is created from shards of tiny coloured glass, when viewed from a distance, a meaningful story is revealed. Similarly, the individual highs and lows of our lives may feel overwhelming when we are in their midst. But, when seen from a distance of time, there can be revealed an image of our growing strength and resilience.

However, the beauty of a stain-glass comes to life only when a light shines through it. When it is lit, the intricate design, patterns and colours create an ambience that is absent in the absence of light. Could this apply to our life experiences? Imagine each line and groove etched by pain and pleasure experienced through our life, lit from within by a resilient light. There are many luminaries who demonstrate this light through their words and actions. Doesn’t the same apply to our own reality too?
