I have lived in four countries with work experience in three of them. I started my career working for an advertising agency in Mumbai, India. Then, I moved to Washington DC, USA getting into multi media and television design. Finally I moved to the UK, gaining experience in designing for conferences, in Sales and Marketing. However, my last working years in design have been spent designing and project managing Museum Exhibitions, before I had to take early retirement due to sight loss.
I have a genetic degenerative eye condition. The loss of personal independence that came with sight loss was the biggest adjustment I had to make in my adult life. To help me with this, I decided to write a book. I wanted to share my knowledge and experience with others who may find it of use. To this end, I self published a book titled ‘How to Create a Museum Exhibition: an in-house perspective’ on Amazon Kindle, at the end of 2014 (see link below). While I was still working at the Museum, around 2000, I re-trained as a Kinesiologist which is a Complementary Therapy. This has opened up yet another world, which is such a contrast providing new insights. For details of my kinesiology, please visit www.healthinsight.co.uk
Now, I would like to write a book on my life experiences with sight loss, to help others to understand what a disability can offer and to prepare for it if it is a degenerative condition. This blog is a small step towards achieving this goal.
I would welcome any feedback you would like to offer. Please email me at anjani_ghelani@icloud.com with any thoughts!
