Even after a decade, I remember being asked if I took advantage of my sight loss. This was at a training workshop of volunteers for a charity for the blind. At the time, though I was taken aback, I did understand where this gentleman was coming from. On reflection, I wish I had had the presence of mind to have asked him if he took advantage of his good sight. Why are we not appreciative of all that is available in our lives and taking advantage of the opportunities that are presented to us?
Even when we loose something, we gain something else. It is a case of being able to turn our back on the lost part, so we can see the other doors that are being opened instead. This of course, only comes when we have practice in living in the moment. It took me many workshops and a continued aspiration for self-improvement that I have been able to acknowledge the reality that everything is ‘perfection in this moment’. Too often my ego distracts me and I miss my opportunity of growth when presented with challenges in my daily undertakings with sight-loss. I forget to use my other senses which can provide information on a depth that I would have not known of, with full sight.
Imagine being able to take advantage of every perceived disadvantage. That must be the way to live a fulfilled, enjoyable and successful life!
Something to ponder on! 👌

Anjani , I find it is developing the habit of meditation that enhances our appreciation of living in the moment.
