33. Connected Coherence

When we are in coherence, our mind and heart energies are in alignment. This means we function from a holistic unified place of being. An ideal way of living, right? However, life is full of challenges and often we are knocked off-balance and can feel overwhelmed even when the difficulty is not that great. What is going on here?

Some years ago, I had a gentleman come to assess my support needs at work. He told me that if we all had three litres of energy a day, I was using up two and a half litres by lunch time. My sight loss meant that I was on hyper-alert all the time in order to function normally. This observation has remained with me as a brilliant reminder about just what happens when our energies are fractured and depleted. Being able to focus our mind on one item whilst our heart is engaged elsewhere could be held up as a commendable ability to have. But it can also be a quick way to experience burn out and exhaustion, followed by making poor choices.

Whilst driving a car, if one foot was on the accelerator and the other on the brakes, a slow and jerky movement would be the result. In other words, when focus is fractured, our energies are fractured and vice-versa. Currently the media seems to portray that we are mirroring this state in Politics, Health, Environment and even in Relationships. Perhaps this jerky life experience will force us into embracing change and seek coherence from within. And like the flutter of a butterfly’s wings in one corner of the world causing a storm in another part – we can influence the positive outcome of our surrounding when we remain in coherence.
