Communication between people is a natural on-going phenomenon. This works wonderfully when done at a simple level. However, I find that confusion can arise with the addition of the deeper nuances, which reflect a person’s inner state of mind (and I am no mind reader!). Undoubtedly the ability to communicate kindly and clearly is essential to smoothening our relationships. Perhaps this confusion can even be easily resolved when we learn to listen quietly and with attention.
So many attributes come in the way of our communication. Appropriate words, the tone being used, facial expression and body language all contribute to the process. The interesting aspect is that a lot of the time, we are unaware of how we reveal ourselves, emitting mixed messages in many interactions. It is not surprising to find myself often entangled in crossed wired conversations!
Below the surface, lies the additional strata of emotional energy created by our thoughts and experiences. When I am in pain and turmoil, I am unlikely to be able to partake in an interaction of balanced clarity, unless I have achieved some form of mastery! I came across this eloquent remark that describes this sentiment … despite how open, peaceful and loving we attempt to be, the others can only meet us as deeply as they met themselves.
Well put! ❤️
