55. Personal Journeys

Listening to individual’s life stories have always intrigued me. An understanding of people’s experiences and what has influenced their lives, makes them more interesting and often inspiring. However, when we are ignorant of their personal journey, we can sometimes lean towards an unfair judgement on initial impressions. In the same context, we could be more sympathetic to ourselves and remember the many instances (tragic or uplifting), that may have guided our own journey to who we have become today.

When we connect the dots of any major occurrences – the points of impact in our lives, it reveals a multi-layered image of our past. This complex journey shows us why and how it influenced the current values and principles that we uphold and live with. Sometimes, when I notice an unappealing behaviour or thought-process in myself, I wonder where it could have originated from. The process of self-awareness, gentle observation and reflection, avails to me the wisdom to create appropriate changes, making it possible to enhance my onward journey.

Isn’t it fascinating how no two individuals or their journeys are ever the same? Each twist and turn always seems to come at the right point no matter how great a burden it may be at the time. Yet, it is also quite curious how support and guidance appears when we need it the most! It is a case of remembering to trust in that greater source that lights each of our journeys.
